CaptureMyEvent is a digital experience for weddings and celebrations — a product we designed, built, and run end to end. Guests scan a personalised QR card to leave messages, photos, and videos, send gifts straight to the host by bank transfer, and see tasteful sponsor offers — every memory and contribution collected on one private page the host keeps.

02The problem

Three problems, one solution.

   Events are expensive

   Planning a wedding piles pressure on the budget, and every extra keeps adding up.

   Memories are scattered

   Guests share photos and messages across WhatsApp, Instagram, and email — the best moments get lost and never come together in one place.

   Gifts are awkward

   Some guests send money digitally, others bring cash. Contributions get disorganised, and some are missed altogether.

And because every host joins the referral scheme, curated sponsors can more than cover the platform cost, turning an expense into a little extra income.

05How we built it

CaptureMyEvent is ours end to end — we designed it, we engineer it, and we run it. Nothing here sits on a theme or a page builder, so every decision could be made for the person it actually has to serve: a guest holding a phone at a reception.

1. 01

   A guest-first front end

   • The event page is one React application — open it, leave a message, add a photo, watch it save
   • Written in strict TypeScript, so events, guests, uploads, and gifts are checked as we write them
   • No install and no sign-up: the QR card is the onboarding
2. 02

   Built for the room, not the desk

   • Vite builds a small, content-hashed bundle for every release
   • Guests arrive in bursts, on phones, on whatever signal the venue happens to have
   • The first thing on screen should be the message box, never a loading state
3. 03

   A theme for every event

   • Each event gets its own colours and personality — and so does its printed QR card
   • Tailwind CSS and a shared set of design tokens let one component library re-skin per event
   • A new event is configuration, not a new stylesheet

06How it works

07And for every trip, too

We also built CaptureMyEvent Trips — one page for the whole journey. Everyone adds journal entries, photos, videos, and voice notes, shared by a link or QR, and it all lands straight in the host's own Google Drive, organised and kept forever. Run a public and a private Drive side by side, and sort each upload as it comes in.

Writing into the host's own Drive was a deliberate choice rather than a shortcut. The trip belongs to the people on it, so the files land somewhere they already own, already trust, and can still open long after the trip — and long after us.
